Chapter Nine
You have all been reading The Kite Runner, by Kaleh Hossieni. Consider the events of Chapter 10. To refresh your memory, this is the chapter where Amir hides the money and the watch in Ali and Hassan's hut. How did your opinion of Amir change/develop? What about your opinion of Ali, Hassan, and Baba. Try to discuss your reaction to each character's actions separately.

For me, I had already not thought very highly of Amir after reading about the alley incident. However, I didn't realize how far Amir would go for his own selfishness. I thought it was very inesteresting how Hassan said that he did steal Amir's gifts to make a final sacrafice for Amir. I think that this shows Hassan's loyalty and friendship towards Amir. In a way I do understand why Amir could not be around Hassan any longer. Amir felt so much regret he could not even look at Hassan. -Shelbi Schuette
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine the conversation between Ali and Hassan? Think about the sacrifice Ali made as well. He basically left his home and the safety that Baba could provide to protect his child from Amir. I think if I had been Ali, I would have found Amir out behind the yard and beat him senseless - I guess that would be against Ali's religion!
ReplyDeleteYa I agree with Mrs.Berg, I cannot imagine how I would contain my rage if I were in Ali's position. Although it would probably be Assef that the majority of my rage would be directed at.-Shelby Clemens
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Ms. berg. I cannot imagine how hard it would have been for Ali to abandone his relationship with Baba who had basically been a brother all his life. But for Hassans's sake I believe they had to leave as the event with Amir framing Hassan would not be his only attempt to have them fired, although it was his lowest attempt, which sadly suceeded.
